Job overview

We are seeking to appoint two outstanding clinicians to work at University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust (UHS). One post replaces a retirement position and the second post is an additional post to complement and expand the workforce. The current Gynaecological Oncology Team includes three consultants.

The successful applicants will join an established Gynaecological Oncology team offering the complete range of Gynaecological Cancer services to the local population and tertiary care to the population of Sussex.

Main duties of the job

The clinical duties of the post include the following:

1. One all day operating list a week and additional joint operating where required.
2. One tertiary referral clinic alternate weeks
3. One review clinic a week
4. One colposcopy clinic alternate week
5. One fast track clinic a week
6. One combined oncology clinic alternate weeks
7. One MDM a week
8. Contribution to undergraduate and postgraduate education and supervision including ATSM and SITM training.
9. To be actively involved in service development and innovation
10. To actively support and engage with ongoing research themes and projects
11. To contribute to complaint & incident management as well as clinical administration.

The post carries a 1 in 4 (non-resident) commitment with internal cover for leave for Gynaecology Oncology patients and Obstetric disasters requiring Gynaecology Oncology input.

There are dedicated sessions for SPA, MDM administration.

We are looking for a skilled gynaecologist with excellent skills and experience in managing gynaecological cancer who works well with other members of the team.

The candidate should have experience in laparoscopic and open abdominal surgery. Experience in robotic surgery is desirable.

Previous involvement in service development and quality & safety initiatives are also desirable.

Experience Qualifications

Essential criteria

12. •Basic medical degree
13. •MRCOG or its recognised equivalent
14. •Full and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the GMC or be eligible for registration within six months of the interview. •If you trained in the UK, you must also have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Obstetrics & Gynaecology or be within six months of receiving it by the interview date. •If you trained outside the UK, you must provide evidence that your qualifications are equivalent to the UK CCT. (Equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
15. •Gynaecological oncology subspecialty accreditation or equivalent fellowship experience
16. •BSCCP accreditation
