Main goals and objectives
Deliver automotive Lighting Functions and Associated Lighting Hardware to meet the requirements of the Project Description Brochure.
Responsible for the specification, test, integration and validation to achieve the cost, weight, timing and quality targets for the project. Achieve engineering signoff lighting systems & functions within the project timing.
Main Responsibilities
1. Support and Lead Design Development
Take the lead in Design and development of technology and Function in area of responsibility. Advanced ability to capture and specify the design requirements in area of responsibility. Lead the Engineering test, integration & validation planning and sign off for systems, functions and components in area of responsibility. Lead Engineering release and change management process.
2. Delivery of projects
Responsible for planning and managing project related activities throughout a complete project development. Reporting of project status for area of responsibility in cross functional and project teams. Advanced understanding of cross functional working with other areas of the business. Lead an initiate working with suppliers for progressing project deliverables. Basic financial awareness of their role in the organisation. Knowledge of cost of parts and systems with an understanding of value engineering.
3. Problem Solving
Ability to solve Highly complex Engineering and design related problems. Analysis and management of multiple design related issues to identify the root cause.
Collect data, manage data and analyse data to produce reports as appropriate and progress design guidelines.
4. Developing and maintaining Specialist knowledge
Responsible for keeping the functional area up-to-date with technology in area of responsibility. Capture learning from previous experience. Work with group partners to Influence VW group partners to keep up to date with latest group developments. Working cross functionally to innovate lighting systems and function using ADV principles, sharing knowledge within the business
5. Ability to work within a team
Able to work effectively in the cross functional team. Lead contribution in delivering team objectives. Develop Team improvement and working together structure
Knowledge, Experience & Technical Know How
* Detailed knowledge of automotive lighting regulations and directives.
* Detailed knowledge of independent data interrogation CATIA V5.
* Detailed knowledge of product design using CATIA V5
* Detailed knowledge of Project management and Supplier management control.
* Experience and understanding of automotive Lighting systems.
* Understands plastic mould capabilities and applies this in designs.
* Understands vehicle electrical architecture, function and integration.
* Understanding of complex plastic injection moulding tooling.
* Understanding of optical design and the distribution of light.
* Experience working for an OEM, Tier 1 or similar such as military or aviation
