We are currently recruiting for a Control Team Leader to work at our Southampton Port who will be responsible for frontline management of Control Room Function including maintaining safe working practices, maximization of performance and production levels, accurate and comprehensive record keeping, ensuring efficient and effective communication at all levels.
About The Role
How will you contribute:
1. Provide cover for Shift Supervisor when required.
2. Performance manage direct reporting staff through PDP’s/1:1 and / or appraisals.
3. Monitoring of, and answerable for staff performance at all times and with reference to Company Policies & Procedures.
4. To identify and close staff developmental & training gaps.
5. To provide appropriate provision and allocation of staff and delegation of tasks
6. Ensure a safe and healthy work environment exists
7. Ensure full knowledge held by the Control Room Staff of Terminal operating systems
8. Ensure operational requirements are fully met in an efficient and effective manner
9. Aid the preparation and delivery of daily shift plans and forward planning for operational needs
10. Manage Control Room staff following appropriate appraisal/performance management processes
11. Effective and professional communication with customers; agents, Port Authority, representatives and working colleagues in all DPWS departments.
12. To maintain good working relationships with managers and staff of other departments
13. To ensure that all Control Room activities are carried out in compliance with respective staff agreements, policies and procedures.
14. Ensure an effective and thorough handover at the start, any break during and end of shift

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
15. Proven knowledge of Terminal Operating System
16. Ability to work under pressure; proactively recognising and eliminating problems along the way.
17. Highly developed personal communication skills
18. Proven ability to work under minimal supervision Computer literate, required to use in-house SPARCS system
19. Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to work under sustained pressure in a noisy environment.
20. Ability to organise and prioritise jobs, whilst under pressure in order to meet operational deadlines.
21. Good people management skills.
22. Good organisational skills with attention to detail.
23. Flexible approach and willingness to be involved in a variety of tasks.
24. Sound understanding of Operational activities, including safe working practices.
25. Knowledge of Terminal layout and procedures.
26. Ability to concentrate at all times.
