Dairy Herd Manager
Dairy Herd Manager- Ayrshire, Scotland - £45, – £60, + Accommodation
The Job:
You’ll take responsibility for the day to day management of a large, rotational grazing dairy herd of around cows with focused spring block calving and a strong emphasis on grass‑based production. The role includes overseeing milking routines, herd health and welfare, youngstock rearing, forage utilisation, breeding programmes and delivering operational performance aligned with high animal welfare and production standards. You will also lead and develop a dedicated team, manage records and work closely with senior farm leadership to optimise herd profitability and pasture performance.
The Candidate:
- Proven experience in dairy herd management, ideally overseeing large herds and rotational grazing systems
- Strong technical knowledge of animal health, fertility, nutrition and calving management
- Excellent leadership and people skills, with experience managing staff and motivating teams
- Competent in record‑keeping, monitoring KPIs such as milk yield, fertility and herd health results
- Comfortable with field‑based decision‑making and proactive problem solving
- Willing to live and work in a rural environment and represent a respected estate dairy enterprise
