New Business Development Manager Onsite (5 days per week) Full-Time Permanent


About the Role

We are working with a highly creative and technically driven product design and engineering consultancy that specialises in transforming early-stage ideas into fully engineered, manufacturable products.

This is a rare opportunity for a commercially minded New Business Development Manager to take ownership of new business generation within a fast-paced, design-led environment where engineering, innovation, and commercial thinking intersect.

As a New Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping business growth by identifying new opportunities, building relationships with key decision-makers, and converting early-stage conversations into long-term client partnerships.

This role suits someone who enjoys combining commercial strategy with technical curiosity and wants to directly influence business growth in a highly innovative environment.


Key Responsibilities

* Business Development & Lead Generation
o Identify and target new business opportunities across relevant industries
o Generate new business leads via LinkedIn (including Sales Navigator), Google Ads, email outreach, cold calling, and networking
o Build and manage a strong pipeline of qualified prospects
o Engage and influence senior decision-makers within target organisations
o Use a solution-selling approach to understand client challenges and position tailored offerings effectively
* Opportunity Development & Conversion
o Qualify inbound and outbound leads effectively
o Demonstrate strong commercial acumen when assessing opportunity value and potential
o Translate client needs into structured commercial opportunities
o Support the creation of compelling, value-led proposals
o Collaborate with senior leadership on early-stage commercial discussions
* Client Engagement
o Act as the first commercial point of contact for new enquiries
o Build strong, trusted relationships with prospective and existing clients
o Present technical and design capabilities in a consultative, solution-led manner
o Maintain consistent communication throughout the sales cycle
* Commercial Strategy Support
o Contribute to go-to-market strategy and messaging development
o Provide market insight, competitor intelligence, and client feedback
o Support continuous improvement of conversion rates and commercial processes
* Proposal Development (Progression Opportunity)
o Support early-stage proposal development and scoping
o Learn how technical and commercial proposals are structured
o Progress into full ownership of proposals and presentations
o Develop capability to lead opportunities end-to-end


About You

Essential

* Experience in business development, sales, or client acquisition
* Strong commercial awareness and ability to convert opportunities
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* Confidence engaging senior stakeholders and decision-makers
* Proactive, self‑motivated, and results‑driven mindset
* Ability to quickly understand technical or service-based offerings


Desirable

* Experience within engineering, design consultancy, or technical services
* Familiarity with product development or manufacturing environments
* Experience using CRM systems and LinkedIn Sales Navigator
* Understanding of consultative or solution-based selling
