Central Edinburgh
A lovely live-in role has come in working for a property in Edinburgh. This is a great opportunity for someone who is proactive and organised with the highest standards and meticulous attention to detail, to manage and take responsibility of this property. T he family live between Edinburgh and Singapore. Spending circa half their time in this home for a duration of 8 – 10 weeks per stay. Christmas and Summer typically, but variable. There is a management company that you would report to and take instructions from.
Large house but they only use parts of it, so you would be required to clean these areas daily when in residence and the other rooms would be on rotation for keeping fresh. When the Principals are not in residence this is your time for deep cleaning of all areas.
Other staff: gardening and maintenance work is out-sourced and you would be responsible for giving access and overseeing them when on site. Cooking is a big part of the role and you will be expected to prepare simple lunches and dinners. The family like to eat fresh organic food and produce, salads, soups and sides at lunch and they like Asian style cooking but not all the time. If there is more than one or two in residence, staying then Chefs will also be booked for a few times a week to support you with the cooking. The family do like you to be around in the evening to help with dinner, but you are not expected to clean up after. Once the family sit down to dinner (6.30pm ish) you are free to go.
Husband and mother both work. 3 grown-up children, and none of them live at home. No pets.
Duties:
Housekeeping duties
Bed making
Bathroom cleaning
Kitchen management and cleaning
Dusting and careful attention around art and antiques
Vacuuming
Laundry - large laundry room
Ironing
Dry cleaners
Ordering supplies
Management of the refuse and recycling collection
Shopping for food when family is in residence
Cooking healthy meals - Asian foods are fine or other (baking not required)
Overseeing the house and grounds – daily check of the house to identify any potential problems such as a leak
Hours and days: This is an annualised average hours contract. Mon-Fri is usually the days but if the family have a need for you to be in on a Saturday/Sunday then your days off would change that week. When the family is in residence, there is more work but generally there is about 8 hours a day with an extra hour early evening to help final dinner prep. On your days off, someone else will cover your cleaning duties.
Accommodation: Detached cottage with 2 bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, sitting-room, located within the grounds. Own entrance away from the house.
Family now around until 15th of May and can interview until then. Start as soon as they find someone
Start date: ASAP but can wait 1-2 months for the right person

· Good experience in similar high-end jobs
· Mature and the ability to plan your day yourself
· Excellent references
· Driver is a bonus but not essential – use of Principal’s car
