Energy and Carbon Analyst, 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

Are you ready to be part of the future? At QinetiQ, we are not just imagining tomorrow – we are creating it. From cutting‑edge defence technology to ground‑breaking innovations, our mission is to empower and protect lives. Join us as an Energy & Carbon Analyst on a 12 month fixed term contract, where you will play a key role in driving QinetiQ’s Net Zero ambitions through data, analysis and insight that make a real‑world impact.

The Role

As an Energy & Carbon Analyst, you will support the delivery of QinetiQ’s Net Zero plan by providing and managing the highest quality data and analysis for the Energy Team and the wider business. Your work will help ensure our emissions reporting is accurate, transparent and compliant, while also identifying opportunities for energy and carbon reduction across the Group.

Day‑to‑day, you’ll collect, calculate and report data for QinetiQ’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, collaborating closely with stakeholders across the organisation – from operational teams managing aircraft and facilities to sustainability and ESG partners. You’ll also support internal and external assurance activities, helping to ensure QinetiQ continues to meet the highest standards of environmental accountability.

This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to large‑scale sustainability projects, influence energy and emissions strategy, and play a part in shaping how QinetiQ achieves its Net Zero goals.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

* Collection, calculation, assurance and reporting of Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions for the QinetiQ Group.
* Supporting the delivery of the QinetiQ Net Zero plan by providing analysis for emission‑reduction projects and initiatives.
* Development and management of tools to analyse energy and emissions data to identify and track saving opportunities.
* Providing energy and emissions analysis for audits, compliance and internal reporting.
* Supporting the transition from Excel‑based reporting to a new digital platform to improve data integrity and efficiency.
* Engaging with stakeholders across the business to promote sustainability and energy awareness.

Essential Experience

* Strong data analysis, modelling and management skills.
* Experience in GHG data collection, conversion and reporting.
* Knowledge of carbon conversion techniques and GHG reporting frameworks.
* Experience supporting audit and assurance processes such as ISO 50001 or ESOS.
* Excellent Microsoft Excel and data handling skills.
* Strong communication and stakeholder management, with the ability to convey technical information clearly.

Essential Qualifications

* Degree (or higher) in an analytical or environmental discipline.
* Experience in GHG reporting and emissions assurance.
* Understanding of Net Zero and sustainability frameworks such as SBTi.

We value difference and do not have a fixed idea when it comes to background or education, provided you can show the required level of experience and willingness to learn. Then we would like to hear from you.

This role is 37 hours per week, based remotely anywhere in the UK. Hybrid working patterns are available. Travel to QinetiQ sites (typically once a month) may be required.

Our Benefits

* Matched contribution pension scheme, with life assurance.
* Generous holiday allowance, with the option to purchase additional days.
* Options to join Health Cash Plan, Private Medical Insurance and Dental Insurance.
* Employee discount portal: Personal Accident Insurance, Travel Insurance, Restaurants, Cinema Tickets and much more.
* We are proud to support the Armed Forces community by honouring the Armed Forces Covenant and maintaining our Gold Award standard in the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme.
* Volunteering Opportunities – helping charities and local community.

Recruitment Process

We want to make sure that our recruitment process is as inclusive as possible and we aspire to bring out the best in our candidates by creating an environment where everyone feels valued, heard and supported. If you have a disability or health condition that may affect your performance in certain assessment types, please speak to your Recruiter about potential reasonable adjustments.

Please note that all applicants for this role must be eligible for SC clearance, as a minimum.
