Water Service Delivery/Water Strategy Planning & Investment team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. The Water Service Delivery Team at Yorkshire Water (YW) comprises YW colleagues, consultants, and contract partners working collaboratively to deliver the capital programme for the Water Service side of the business. The Project Manager (PM) plays a crucial role in delivering strategic projects within the Water Directorate, such as the AMP7 Turnaround Plan, DWI Legal Instruments, Smart Networks Programme, CML improvement plan, and AMP8 Early Start. The PM is pivotal in ensuring successful project delivery within both the Water Service Delivery Portfolio and IT Programme Delivery, accountable to the Business Programme Manager. They focus on delivering projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards, while managing various stakeholders and ensuring adherence to governance, benefit realization, health and safety, and environmental standards. Where you fit in: As our Project Manager you will Overseeing assigned projects, including developing the Project Definition Document (PDD) and Business Case, with support from business owners. Updating project management reports and documentation, such as project status reports, financial summaries, risk registers, and change requests, and feeding into programme-level reports. Leading all resources assigned to the project, setting clear objectives, and managing performance. Adhering to business quality standards and facilitating effective project audit reviews. Ensuring robust financial management and commercial awareness underpin all business decisions. Accurately updating Yorkshire Water corporate systems as required. Coordinating project activities and inputs from multiple people across assigned projects. Assisting Business Owners and Business Change Managers in identifying and embedding BAU activities, deliverables, and benefits at project handover. Identifying, quantifying, tracking, and reporting on benefits forecast and realization up to handover to business as usual. Leading engagement with key project stakeholders and managing wider communications. Coordinating the setup of relevant project boards and ensuring effective governance with the Business Programme Manager and project sponsor. Driving excellent standards and performance in health and safety, risk management, and compliance with Yorkshire Water's Safety Policy. What skills & qualifications you will need: This role requires a focussed and driven individual who revels in a challenging environment and has a passion for excellence and a can-do attitude. You will have a proven track record of project management, planning and financial / budget management. You will have experience of leadership and managing multi-disciplinary teams through the project life cycle, and experience of managing large workloads of multiple projects concurrently. You will provide long-term sustainability to the project by integrating the project output to meet our performance commitments, regulatory outputs and ensuring project close out is completed in a timely manner. To be successful you must have a general commercial awareness, understanding of and ability to programme monitoring and expenditure forecasting skills to ensure robust financial and commercial management. You will have a proven track record of budget management and financial performance. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills; including the ability to present and communicate complex information to a wide range of audiences. You must be able to articulate and have proven ability to engage with customers internally and externally, developing and maintaining strong positive business relationships in order to understand their needs and recognise opportunities. You will have a wide level of experience in negotiations and conflict management in a project environment. Willingness to work from various sites as the work demands. As you will be required to travel to different YW locations a full valid UK driving licence is essential. You will also benefit from having: A recognised qualification in a programme or project management course such as APM and appropriate level of membership of a recognised institution would be desirable. Knowledge of the construction processes from civils works through to mechanical, electrical and ICA equipment and the logic and technical constraints around each of these areas. Water / waste industry experience. Previous experience working as a Project Manager in water or waste sector or broader utilities sector. Previous experience of managing IT projects. Experience of managing projects using multiple methodologies.
