Your New Role
As a Senior Building Surveyor based in London, you'll take the lead role in delivering professional consultancy and surveying services for a broad range of commercial building projects. Your core responsibilities will include:
Inspecting and advising on the design, construction, maintenance, repair, and refurbishment of commercial properties
Preparing reports, schedules of work, and technical specifications
Designing and overseeing works using recognised building contracts and up-to-date standards
Acting as lead consultant or project manager on complex projects, coordinating teams and delivering top-tier service
Interpreting and applying legislation including health and safety, building regulations, Building Safety Act, and party wall matters
Preparing and negotiating dilapidations schedules and liability assessments on behalf of homeowners and tenants
Promoting consultancy services to secure new opportunities and strengthen client relationships
Mentoring APC candidates and fostering a strong professional learning culture
You'll have the autonomy to manage high-impact projects while being part of a close-knit team that supports and challenges you to grow.
What You'll Need to Succeed
To excel in this role, you'll need:
Ideally, MRICS is accredited-but this is not essential if you can demonstrate the required experience, capability, and knowledge across core areas of building surveying
Strong experience with building consultancy practices, including defect diagnosis, reporting, and project delivery
Solid understanding of construction legislation including CDM 2015, Building Regulations, and the Party Wall Act
Ability to interpret technical publications and construction-related legal documents such as leases and development agreements
Experience of leading, negotiating, and coordinating teams on high-value projects
Excellent communication skills-both verbal and written
Strong IT skills and analytical thinking with a problem-solving mindset
A flexible, adaptable attitude to project types and a high level of professionalism
