About Wheldon Infant School and Nursery
Situated close to Castleford town centre, Wheldon Infant School and Nursery provides a warm, family atmosphere for children aged 3 to 7 years. At Wheldon we offer a personalised and inclusive learning environment where every child can flourish.
Our school is a vibrant community with pupils in the main school and 78 part-time nursery places. We are proud of our established forest school area and spacious grounds, providing excellent outdoor learning and play opportunities.

About the Role
As our Family Support Worker, you will be a vital link between the school, families, and a wide range of partner agencies. Your work will ensure pupils receive the best possible start in education by supporting their families and addressing barriers to learning.
You will work alongside colleagues to coordinate support and interventions, contributing directly to our mission of inclusion and early intervention. This role offers a dynamic and rewarding environment where you can make a tangible impact every day.
The position will start in Spring and offers the chance to work within a committed and friendly team in a fast-moving, supportive setting.
About You
We are seeking someone who:
1. Believes in the power of early intervention and partnership working to improve children’s lives
2. Is compassionate, resilient, and able to build trusting relationships with families from diverse backgrounds
3. Has excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate multi-agency support effectively
4. Is motivated to support children’s emotional wellbeing and educational progress
5. Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
6. Is enthusiastic about professional development and keen to grow their skills within a supportive team
7. Experience working with children, families, and agencies in an educational or social care setting is highly desirable.

How to Apply
13. Salary: Grade 6/7 (depending on experience)
14. Contract: Fixed term for 1 year, with possibility to extend
15. Hours: 35 hours per week
