Enterprise Architect (Data) – Permanent
Location: Edinburgh, Peterborough or Witham. We believe in in-person collaboration, and our hybrid model requires colleagues to be in the office a minimum of 40% of their time.
Salary: £84,480 - £126,720 depending on experience. Closing date: 7 October 2025.

An opportunity has arisen for an Enterprise Architect (Data) to join on a permanent basis. You will guide Aegon UK through large programmes of change, using strategic planning to manage transformation to achieve business goals. You will offer actionable insights to business and technology leaders, enabling them to adapt to meet objectives and respond to market disruptions. You will work closely with engineering teams in a cross-functional structure where architecture and engineering work hand-in-hand. Aegon has built a data platform with AWS, and we are looking for someone who can help transform data from being an asset into a product that adds ongoing value. We want to use the depth and breadth of data we have as the UK\'s largest platform to help people live their best lives. You will collaborate with multiple departments, stakeholders and external vendors to create a cohesive data strategy aligned with business goals.
Responsibilities
* Establish and maintain the AUK architecture strategy, setting the vision, drivers, and goals that shape the target architecture.
* Act as a senior leader to represent architecture at the highest levels within the UK, Aegon Group, and externally as needed.
* Provide guidance and leadership to other architects.
* Lead strategic relationships with key architecture stakeholders.
* Ensure appropriate architectural governance is in place within AUK.
What we’re looking for
* Strong leadership skills and experience managing others in the delivery of: Business Cases, Impact Assessments and Architectural Definitions.
* Relationship management skills, managing senior stakeholders up to Executive level to build confidence in technical delivery capabilities.
* A proven track record of architecting, building and administering complex architectures and technologies.
* Demonstrable experience in applying architecture, enterprise roadmaps, analytics, IT strategies, innovation, and cloud concepts/methodologies.
* Familiarity with AWS Cloud services and architecture best practices.
* Broad knowledge of IT applications, including how cloud architecture relates to other IT areas and business functions.
Nice to have
* Experience in the design and application of architecture within the Financial Services industry.

* A non-contributory pension between 8% - 12% (pension enhancing from November 2025). If you contribute 7% of your salary, we’ll top it up by a further 13%.
