Job Description – Apprentice Field Engineer

The Opportunity

Our client is recruiting for an Apprentice Field Engineer to join their team in Wolverhampton.

The Level 3 Network Cable Installer apprenticeship programme that we are offering, will allow you to kick-start your career in an industry that is constantly evolving, dynamic and transformational.

Summary

We are looking for an Apprentice Cabling Engineer to join our delivery team, helping to install and maintain structured cabling systems (Cat6, fibre optics, and associated infrastructure). This apprenticeship offers a pathway into a high demand career, combining technical skills, industry recognised qualifications, and hands on project experience in a supportive environment.

The Position

Apprenticeship Duration:

12 months + EPA

Location:

Wolverhampton / Telford

Working Hours:

Full-time, 37.5 hrs per week (site-based)

Salary:

£16,000 to £18,000

Role and Responsibilities:

· Install Cat6 structured cabling systems (faceplates, trunking, patch panels)

· Support fibre optic installations (cable pulling, patching, termination, and testing)

· Assist with cabinet builds, labelling, and documentation

· Learn how to read technical drawings, RAMS, and site permits

· Maintain safe working practices and follow H&S protocols

· Support engineers on live sites, developing independence over time

Desired Qualities, Skills and Knowledge:

· Full UK Driving License (E)

Skills

· Practical mindset, keen to learn hands-on technical skills

· Good problem-solving ability and attention to detail

· Team player with strong communication skills

· Punctual and reliable with a positive attitude
