As a Data Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in shaping scalable, cloud‑based data ecosystems that transform how clients use and value their data. Working across modern data platform technologies (Azure, AWS, etc.), you will help build high‑impact solutions while contributing to a culture that values ownership, encourages creative thinking, and supports continuous growth and collaboration. Due to the secure nature of the programme, you will need to hold UK Security Clearance or be eligible to go through this clearance. This is a hybrid position.
Responsibilities
* Design, build, and optimise end‑to‑end data platforms that enable high‑quality, trusted data to drive decision‑making and innovation.
* Work closely with clients, analysts, and data scientists to translate complex requirements into scalable solutions, taking ownership of data pipelines, architectures, and governance practices.
* Design and deliver scalable ETL pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and curation.
* Build and optimise data warehouses, lakes, and lakehouse architectures.
* Architect and model robust, secure, and cost‑efficient data solutions.
* Enable and support data visualisation and analytics through curated datasets.
* Govern and secure data through cataloguing, lineage tracking, and compliance controls.
* Collaborate and mentor across teams, supporting knowledge sharing and capability growth.
* Improve and innovate data platforms using modern tools and emerging technologies.
Qualifications
* Strong experience in data engineering across modern cloud platforms with a proven ability to design and deliver scalable data solutions.
* Strong communication skills to work effectively with stakeholders.
* Demonstrable experience in data engineering or a related field.
* Proficiency in SQL, Python, or equivalent scripting languages.
* Hands‑on experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
* Experience with modern data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, MS Fabric, Informatica, Talend).
* Proven ability to design data architectures, pipelines, and models.
* Experience with BI tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
* Understanding of data governance, security, and compliance practices.
* Strong problem‑solving and stakeholder management skills.
