Available Opportunity
Piteau Associates is going through an exciting phase of growth with the addition of more than 50 employees in our Geotechnical and Water Management groups in the last few years. To keep up with this growth, we are expanding our geotechnical group capabilities with highly respected industry leaders in our operations.
Skills And Responsibilities
Based on this growth we are looking to hire Senior Hydrogeologists and Hydrologists to join our Water Management team in our Shrewsbury, UK office – working on projects throughout Europe and Africa.
This position offers the opportunity for professional growth and skill development in:
Planning and supervision of hydrogeological and hydrological field investigation programs;
Groundwater / hydrogeological / hydrological investigations to support mining projects;
Assessment and mitigation of potential environmental impacts for mining operations;
Design of dewatering and depressurization systems for operational open pit and underground mines;
Surface water management and control system design;
Seepage evaluation from tailings and mine waste storage facilities;
Numerical and analytical modelling of groundwater flow and contaminant transport and water balances;
Advanced data analysis using 3-D numerical flow and contaminant transport models;
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and 3-D visualization software;
Report writing and presentation;
Managing work schedules, controlling budgets while working within a multi-disciplinary team;
Developing and administering project budgets, management, mentoring and technical writing.
Required Qualifications
Degree in hydrogeological/hydrological, geoscience or mathematics disciplines from a recognized university;
Minimum 10 years of experience in a consulting role;
Able to lead and deliver technical studies;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Mobility and willingness to undertake international assignments, prospectively across all continents.

Desirable Experience
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and 3-D visualization software (QGIS, ArcGIS, Leapfrog, GlobalMapper, ..)
Experience with various groundwater analysis and modeling software (e.g., AquiferTest, MODFLOW, FEFLOW, SEEP/W) will be an asset.
Experience with numerical mine water balances (GOLDSIM) will be an asset.
Practical experience in the minerals sector or additional languages would be beneficial but not a requirement.
