Rate of Pay: £20.45 - £26.95 per hour Summary: The Prison Librarian is responsible for delivering a comprehensive, inclusive, and high-quality library service within HMP Brixton. The role supports prisoner rehabilitation through access to recreational, educational, and legal resources in alignment with national prison standards and CILIP guidelines. Responsibilities: Oversee daily library operations, ensuring high standards of service delivery. Deliver library services that meet prisoners recreational, educational, cultural, and information needs. Recruit, train, and supervise Prisoner Assistants and other assigned staff. Maintain efficient operational systems (e.g., stock, cataloguing, circulation). Support legal information needs through tailored reference and enquiry services. Qualifications: Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent. A professional librarian qualification is desirable. Essentials: Experience working in libraries or similar public-facing environments. Proven ability to engage and communicate effectively with diverse individuals and groups. Competency in ICT, literacy, and numeracy.
