Head of Risk Assurance
Location: Buckinghamshire 2-3 days

We're looking for a bold, forward‐thinking Head of Risk Assurance to take ownership of our risk, assurance and insurance agenda. This is a strategic leadership role for someone who can elevate organisational resilience, sharpen governance, and drive a confident, proactive risk culture.
The job overview:
You will be the organisation's expert voic7e on risk management, shaping an agile, insight‐driven framework that genuinely influences decisions. You'll bring clarity to complexity, challenge constructively, and ensure senior leaders and governance bodies have the intelligence they need to act decisively.
You'll also lead the performance and direction of our outsourced internal audit service, ensuring it delivers high‐quality, independent assurance. You'll set a risk‐based audit plan, hold providers to account, and make sure audit actions translate into real, sustained improvements.
Alongside this, you'll take full ownership of our insurance strategy, securing comprehensive, cost‐effective cover, managing key external relationships, and using claims insights to strengthen risk mitigation and loss prevention.
What You'll Lead
* A dynamic, forward‐looking risk management framework that stays aligned to organisational priorities
* Embedding a confident, consistent risk culture through training, coaching and strong engagement
* High‐quality risk reporting and expert advice to senior leaders, Boards and Audit & Risk Committees
* Oversight and optimisation of internal controls, including the Controls Risk Self‐Assessment
* Full management of outsourced internal audit services, ensuring value, independence and impact
* Development of a risk‐based annual audit plan and rigorous follow‐up of audit recommendations
* Strategic leadership of the insurance programme, including procurement, renewal and claims handling
* Analysis of claims trends to drive smarter risk reduction and resilience strategies
* Business continuity planning and organisational readiness
