We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Registered Nurse to join our team at St Julias Hospice in Hayle.
We are looking for a dynamic experienced Senior Registered Nurse to clinically lead our multidisciplinary team in collaboration with the ward manager in a safe effective and responsive way, delivering excellent care and support to patients and their families.
We provide a high standard of specialist and end-of life care; therefore, experience is this field is essential to this role.

Senior Registered Nurse - Cornwall Hospice Care
Main duties of the job
To work as part of the multi-disciplinary team, providing a high standard of specialist palliative care to patients and their families.
The Post Holder, in conjunction with the Ward Sister, is responsible for leading the team of Registered Nurses in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of holistic patient care.

Clinical
To be responsible for working alongside the ward sister to lead the ward team whilst building successful links between key professionals to support and promote effective multi-disciplinary team working.
Communicate effectively and efficiently, whilst liaising with other members of the multi-disciplinary team to ensure patients receive seamless care within the hospice and other healthcare settings.
Responsible for maximising the use of clinical resources, implementing best practice in patient flow, admission and discharge arrangements.
To ensure the ward have adequate resources/equipment to provide a safe and effective service.
Responsible for ensuring the escalation of issues when a change to circumstances may affect safe practice
Work with the ward MDT and Advanced nurse practitioner to ensure that patients are admitted appropriately and their needs are able to be met by the hospice facilities and care.
Participate in multi professional research and be responsible for ward based audits: with the ward sister develop and implement any action plans.
To be Responsible for leading and supporting the ward team alongside the ward sister through the process of change, demonstrating tenacity, drive, professional integrity, balance and perspective.
Responsibility for identifying any Health and Safety risks and incidents within the clinical area; liaising with the Health and Safety manager as and when required. Escalating any maintenance issues in a timely way.
Ensure that all CQC reporting requirements are adhered to and the team are engaged with the key lines of enquiry.
Alongside the ward sister help motivate, develop, support and identify training needs for ward staff, through regular appraisals and meetings.
Support the ward sister with implementing and working within the Charitys HR policies on all staffing matters, including sickness, capability and disciplinary issues seeking guidance from the HR department as required.
Work with the ward sister to prioritise staff retention and using all available strategies to retain and motivate staff.
To work alongside the ward sister to ensure all ward staff have a minimum of an annual appraisal, overseeing the process to ensure all objectives are achievable and contribute to the development of staff and ward objectives.
Actively participate in the delivery of training programmes for the clinical team.
Ensure that staff keep up to date with mandatory and statutory training requirement in line with their specific job role.
Always adhere to the Charitys policies and procedures.
To have an awareness of ensuring the skill mix within the ward is appropriate
Actively participate with team meetings on a regular basis, recording and circulating minutes of these. Ensure all relevant information is cascades to the unit staff in a timely way.
Encourage staff to contribute to the unit development, giving time and opportunity to produce and develop ideas and new ways of working.
Work alongside the senior nurses in the fellow hospice to ensure, where possible, there is a consistent approach to all aspects of patient support and care.
