Salary: Up to £31,500 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 35 hours per week | Monday to Friday
Contract: Permanent | Full Time
Start: January 2026

Norton College is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Family Liaison Officer to join our amazing team.
About the Role
We are seeking a compassionate and proactive Family Liaison Officer to strengthen the partnership between home and school, ensuring our most vulnerable families receive timely, appropriate and effective support. Working closely with the Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team, you will play a vital role in breaking down barriers to engagement, improving attendance, and supporting positive outcomes for pupils with complex needs.
In this role, you will act as a key point of contact for families, help coordinate multi-agency support, carry out home visits when needed and build trusting relationships that empower families to engage confidently with the school community. You will also contribute to safeguarding, pupil support and wider pastoral systems across the school.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the main point of contact for families requiring additional support, building strong, trusting relationships that encourage positive engagement with the school. This includes maintaining regular communication, carrying out home visits where appropriate, and providing early engagement opportunities for families prior to a child joining the school.
* Coordinate and contribute to multi-agency support by completing referrals, signposting families to external services, liaising professionally with partner agencies, and attending meetings to support joined-up planning and positive outcomes for pupils and families.
* Play a key role in safeguarding and pastoral support across the school, acting as Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, maintaining accurate and confidential records, and ensuring all case notes and documentation meet safeguarding and policy requirements.
* Build positive relationships with pupils, providing consistent, individualised support that promotes inclusion, independence, self-esteem and engagement in learning. This includes contributing to Individual Education Plans and Behaviour Plans, providing feedback on progress, and using specialist skills or training to meet individual needs.
* Support wider operational and wellbeing needs, including assisting with medication administration, supporting pupil transport arrangements, and maintaining high standards of professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
This role is central to strengthening the home–school partnership and ensuring every child and family feels supported, valued and able to thrive within our school community.
