We are recruiting for a Director of Capital/Special Projects to lead on two independent, highly complex and time sensitive projects within the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for the planning and execution of; a distribution centre move/consolidation, and a manufacturing facility expansion.This is a senior position, reporting into the CEO and directly responsible for a projects team based across the UK. An instrumental role, managing the effective product transfer process, as well as the implementation of layout best practices to current and future operations of the Distribution Centre and Production facilities, all with the ultimate goal of reducing overhead costs per unit shipped.This role will be full time site based in Herefordshire, requiring a skilled senior project manager, with an extensive background in leading on the construction and infrastructure installation of complex manufacturing and warehouse sites.What you can expect:Highly competitive18months fixed term contract and/or consulting on a self-employed basisPotential to be converted to a full-time position, based on experience, performance and needs of the businessFrequent travel between Hereford and ThirskWhat you will be doing:Move/consolidation of three facilities in Hereford UK into a single, larger facility in Hereford, to include the plans for exiting the three existing facilitiesOffice space for approximately 25-30 team membersWarehouse and Distribution centre, which ships approximately $20M in annual revenue, across 800+ SKUsOverflow warehouse for slow moving or excess inventoryExpansion of a manufacturing facility in Thirsk UK, to accommodate an expected threefold increase in demand and outputManage and submit monthly pay application for approvalTrack and communicate project status to stakeholders and key project participants, with at least weekly updates to leadershipAnalyse options for warehouse setup to streamline pick-Pack and Ship, put-away and inventory management processes, to provide guidance on new layoutStay aware of company goals and strategies to ensure projects align with business prioritiesFacilitate and encourage collaboration across departments to ensure projects are completed successfully (On-time and within Budget)Delegate work to team members based on skills and expertiseOptimise project deliverables, schedule, and budgetingWork with proposal teams to develop cost estimates and project plansCreate presentations and reports to communicate project statusProactive anticipation of potential risks to schedule and/or costs, developing mitigation strategiesHigh level of collaboration and partnership with Leadership Team to avoid surprises, ensure alignment on plans and deliverablesAppropriate escalation of issues, along with proposed solutionsLeadership of other projects and strategic initiatives as directed by ManagementWhat we are looking for:Highly experienced in multi-site consolidations including distribution centresExperience with manufacturing layout and facility expansionExperience in supervising contractors, manage architects and engineers, perform inspections during construction and write reportsPrior successful experience managing complex facility-related projects through to completionManage construction program documentation as applicableExperience within a highly regulated industry is essential e.g. medical, finance, engineering, food industry, etc.Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing/supply chain processesDevelop and control project budgetsBachelor's degree with a focus in project management, business, supply chain or related fieldKnowledge of project management methodologies and best practices10-15 years’ progressive management experience, in a manufacturing or distribution businessSenior leadership experience within a project management capacityExperience in a midsize manufacturing environment ($100M-$500M annual revenue)
