Overview
Software Developer role at Surrey County Council / Surrey Adult Learning. This full-time, permanent position has a starting salary of £47,142 per annum (based on a 36-hour working week). The team is based at the Woking Adult Learning Centre. The role offers hybrid working with the option to work flexibly from another location or from home for part of the week.
About the Role
Surrey Adult Learning is a leading provider of daytime, evening and Saturday courses for adults. We offer a wide range of qualification courses, including ESOL, maths and digital skills, and provide courses for personal development and for learners with varied needs. We are looking for a Software Developer to design, build, and enhance digital solutions that support adult learners across Surrey. You will help modernise systems and improve user experiences across our learning services.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain custom software solutions
* Integrate systems to streamline operations and automate processes
* Apply your skills in JavaScript, HTML5, Java, C++, and PHP
* Apply Agile methodologies and collaborate across teams
* Create documentation and train staff on new tools
Qualifications / Shortlisting Criteria
* Excellent problem-solving skills
* Advanced knowledge of programming languages including JavaScript, HTML5, Java, C++ and PHP
* Knowledge of software systems and frameworks
* Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
* Commitment to continuous professional development
* Ability to work well under pressure with colleagues at all levels
