This post is based in multidisciplinary Early Intervention Team (EIT) in Greenwich CAMHS. The teamprovidestraining, consultation, supervision and brief focused clinical interventions within schools across Greenwich borough.

The role includes the following: providing a qualified clinical psychology (or equivalent) service for children, young people and their families up to 18 years old; providing specialist psychological assessment and therapy; undertaking goal-based case management; supervising the clinical work of assistant psychologists, trainees and other professionals; and offering advice and consultation on clients’ psychological care to non-psychologist colleagues within and outside the organisation.

The post holder will hold a key role as a psychologist within a strong, friendly psychology discipline, and working within an MDT. There are opportunities for supervision of Trainee Clinical Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists as well as providing consultation to multi-disciplinary colleagues. There are opportunities for service development and quality improvement work, as well as the development of leadership skills.

The post holder will provide evidence based specialist psychological assessment, formulation and therapeutic interventions for young people and families accessing the service.

The service is underpinned by CYP IAPT principles and the successful candidate will support and assist the core aims of this in the service. This can involve exciting and creative participation work, training opportunities and service development.

Oxleas offers a wide range of NHS healthcare services to people in community and secure environment settings. The post holder will offer specialist psychology assessment and treatment to young people and their families presenting with a broad range of complex mental health difficulties. The post holder will also provide advice and consultation to social care and other professional colleagues in partner agencies.


Clinical:

* To provide specialist psychological assessments of clients referred to CAMHS based upon the appropriate use, interpretation and integration of complex data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations and semi-structured interviews with clients, family members and others involved in the client’s care.
* To formulate and implement plans for the formal psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s mental health problems, based upon an appropriate conceptual framework of the client’s problems, and employing methods based upon evidence of efficacy, across the full range of care settings.
* To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families and groups, both as an autonomous individual clinician and in synthesis with colleagues in MDT, while adjusting and refining psychological formulations by drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.
* To evaluate and make decisions about treatment options by taking into account both theoretical and therapeutic models and highly complex factors concerning historical and developmental processes that have shaped the individual, family or group.
* To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients whose problems are managed by psychologically-based care plans.
* To provide specialist consultation, advice, guidance and training to professionals at all levels working with families in Education, partner agencies and within the service. This will include liaison and working with professional networks involved with highly complex, emotive and often conflictual issues such as those involving child protection, deliberate self-harm, violence, trauma, suicide risk, criminal offending behaviour, sexualised behaviour, and mental health problems of parents.
* To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to clients’ formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
* To contribute directly and indirectly to a psychologically-based framework of understanding and care to the benefit of all clients of the service, across all settings and agencies.
