Role Overview
As a Functional Assessor in our Health Assessment Advisory Service team, you will carry out meaningful work on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions to understand how a person's health condition affects their daily life. This role invites Registered Nurses (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Physiotherapists, Paramedics, Occupational Therapists and Pharmacists to apply clinical expertise in a new way within a supportive, purpose‑led environment.
Responsibilities
* Speak with customers by phone, face to face or online.
* Carry out functional health assessments and gather accurate, detailed information.
* Consult with treating healthcare professionals where appropriate.
* Produce fair, high‑quality reports on behalf of the Department for Work and Pensions.
* Use observational, communication and note‑taking skills to ensure every customer is treated with care and respect.
Qualifications
* One year of post‑registration experience as a Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist, Paramedic or Pharmacist.
* Full registration with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC or equivalent), with an active PIN and no restrictions.
* Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to write concise, accurate reports.
* Good IT skills and the ability to work efficiently under time pressures.
Vetting and Checks
All Functional Assessors must successfully complete a full pre‑employment security screening process, including an Enhanced DBS check, before starting the role. This role is Disability‑Confident.
