Hays are representing a large public sector organisation who have four sites in Northern Ireland whichprises of a number of buildings ranging in ages and design, including administration buildings, lecture theatres, sports halls, laboratories and libraries, as well as an expansive outdoor landscape incorporating sports pitches and car parking. They are seeking an Architectural Technologist to assist their estates assets team with the design and delivery of minor works projects across the estate.
Your new role
This is an initial 6 month contract position with the likelihood of extension.The role can be based at this organisation’s office in Belfast, Derry or Coleraine.
The main duties of this role are:To provide a full architectural design service in respect of maintenance and refurbishment work across the portfolio of properties;Management of the design process utilising the RIBA design work-stages and any other prescribed approach, and to assist in the consistent application of the unit’s project-management methodology;Assisting in the development ofprehensive design briefs in liaison with the relevant project managers, building occupiers and other stake-holders;Obtaining any necessary statutory approvals related to architectural designs, including the production and submission of all related documentation;The provision of technical support and advice on all aspects of the maintenance and refurbishment of building fabric; and the preparation of full design packages for use in procurement exercises.
What you'll need to succeed
Educated to degree level in Architectural Technology or similar qualificationOREducated to degree level in a subject relevant to the post and qualified to HNC/D level in a subject with a substantial content of architectural theoryAND
A minimum of two years work experience in small to medium architectural estates-related projects focused on operation and maintenance/refurbishment improvements.Experience to include: Design development /preparation of technical specifications/tendering processes, liaison with internal stakeholders or client bodies.Management of contractors.Management of project cost and quality standards.Transition planning & management, andmissioning & handover ofpleted projects to point of occupation and post project review.
