Overview
The smooth and efficient day‑to‑day running of the Production Team to the agreed standards of productivity, quality and personnel values. Manage and review dispatch team performance regularly, identifying areas for improvement, motivating and developing staff. Provide KPI reporting, inclusive of data metrics and actions to measure progress. Support recruitment as required. Store and handle goods safely and orderly. Ensure production areas comply with current Health and Safety regulations and maintain high standards of health, safety and good housekeeping at all times. Maintain a flexible workforce to meet the needs of the business and deliver the requirements of the department at all times.
Key Duties
- Ensure the agreed production schedule is met to the agreed delivery due dates.
- Allocate staff to the required jobs.
- Monitor the team production performance and ensure labour standards are met.
- Ensure the production plan is carried out to maintain and improve customer delivery satisfaction.
- Input data into the logistics department on machine and labour availability to enable the production schedule to be set.
- Manage, motivate and develop production personnel.
- Ensure all batch paperwork is fully filled in as required by QC prior to the batch being sent for sterilisation and that team quality standards are met.
- Train and develop team members in production techniques.
- Lead the team in continuous improvement of their performance.
- Carry out performance appraisals of the team and its members at appropriate intervals via the appraisal system and ensure work is consistent with company objectives.
- Interview and select new production staff with support from the HR Manager.
- Maintain accurate personnel records, including attendance, disciplinary and training records.
- Apply personal discipline in accordance with the company disciplinary procedure and handbook guidelines.
- Appraise all employees in accordance with the appraisal system at least annually.
- Evaluate and provide employee training needs in line with company objectives.
- Provide point‑of‑contact cover for shift leaders in times of absence, liaising with the Production Manager.
- Provide support and coaching to team leaders to safeguard continual improvement, training and mentoring as required to enable personnel up‑skilling.
Key Requirements
- Experience of team management in a production environment.
- Experience in Kaizen or 5S continual improvement and lean manufacturing principles.
- Ability to manage and take responsibility for workload commitments, planning and prioritising.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety in the workplace.
- Good general standard of education including numeracy and literacy.
- IT literate.
Package
- £31,360 per annum starting salary, rising after probation and with an opportunity to progress to advanced team leader with salary increase.
- 2‑shift pattern (no nights): 06:00‑14:15 Monday to Thursday, 06:00‑12:30 Friday; 14:00‑22:30 Monday to Thursday, 12:15‑17:45 Friday on rotation.
