Building a sustainable tomorrow
BAM FM is recruiting a Ventilation/Mechanically skilled Engineer to work at the University Hospital Southampton. You will perform planned maintenance, working full-time, 40 hours a week, Monday to Friday, on a rotating early/late shift schedule. One week every three weeks, you will work a late shift from 13:30 to 22:00.
Your responsibilities
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance, complete reports and paperwork.
* Maintain ventilation/mechanical equipment, including plumbing, boilers, pumps, switchgear, controls, and lighting.
* Supervise subcontractors, ensure safe work practices, and review method statements and risk assessments.
* Read and diagnose faults using electrical drawings and specifications.
* Order and monitor spare parts and stock levels.
* Perform maintenance in line with HTMs and SFG20 standards.
* Complete tasks within contractual timeframes.
* Assist team members and contribute to energy reduction initiatives.
* Undertake AP (vent) duties if required.
Candidate requirements
* Minimum 4 years of experience as a ventilation/mechanical engineer in a busy environment.
* HVAC qualifications are advantageous.
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations, risk assessments.
* Self-motivated, reliable, with basic electrical, plumbing, and mechanical skills.
* Good communication and organizational skills, initiative-taking ability.
Work schedule and additional info
* Rotating shifts: 08:00-16:30 and 13:30-22:00 with a 0.5-hour lunch break.
* On-call support, typically 1 week in 6.
* Support health and safety responsibilities and provide general support duties.
* Cover for colleagues during holidays and other reasonable requests.
