Job Summary
The Site Engineer is responsible for aspects of the contract as part of the team, with emphasis on control of the works and providing technical advice. The Site Engineer helps to create a safe and efficient working environment, maintains productivity and communicates with the Agent to ensure that the works adhere to the correct quality requirements.
Key Responsibilities
* To support and report to the Project Manager and/or Senior Project Manager in all the elements related to the construction, programme of works and commercial issues of the works.
* To support the co‑ordination between the construction, design, procurement, and commercial departments to ensure the sub‑contracts are awarded and work started in accordance with the schedule of works.
* To ensure that client requirements regarding the functionality and standards are met, ensuring that all quality, assurance, and compliance documentation is provided in a timely manner.
* Ensure works on site are carried out safely with due regard to the protection of the workforce, public and the environment, including managing exclusion zones.
* To ensure works are monitored to achieve right first‑time workmanship and undertake lessons learnt reviews to promote continuous improvement, while maintaining daily records.
* To ensure performance management process is completed and appropriate training is planned and delivered.
* To attend and record relevant meetings, providing relevant parties with contextual information and analysis, including regular site walks.
* To partner with relevant stakeholders to support risk management and mitigation treatments.
* To update and manage existing project plans, processes, and procedures to contribute to the successful delivery of projects under direction.
* To assist in providing handover documentation prior to practical completion.
* To work collaboratively towards the common goal of net zero carbon transition and share responsibility for the proactive identification and management of the associated carbon emissions and reductions during the delivery of work.
Technical Skills And Competencies
* Developing knowledge and experience in project management, managing small sized projects/elements of larger projects.
* Developing knowledge of construction and industry and understanding of programme, scheduling, procurement, and reporting.
* Developing budgetary oversight expertise and knowledge.
* Developing understanding of project management methodologies and practices.
* Developing communication, presentation and project planning and development skills (using appropriate tools).
* Partners and collaborates with others.
* Contribute to an inclusive environment.
* Champions best practice, safety management and safety initiatives.
* Developing stakeholder/client influencing and negotiation skills.
Qualifications, Certifications And Experience
* Working towards MCIOB/MAPM/MRICS/MICE or local equivalent.
* Developing experience in a project management (or equivalent) role.
* Tertiary qualifications in related (project management and/or construction related discipline), non‑related degree or equivalent professional experience / apprenticeship, combined with a demonstrable intermediate level of role knowledge.
* Appropriate Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card (or local equivalent).
* Technical expertise in Health and Safety Executive (HSE) (or local equivalent) rules and specific sector/ market regulations relevant to project portfolio.
