Ophthalmology Specialist Doctor – Medical Retina

We are seeking a full‑time Medical Retina Specialist Doctor to provide excellent care to patients in a busy NHS Trust serving over 750,000 people.
Responsibilities
* Provide high quality clinical care to patients and maintain departmental vision in line with National and Local policy.
* Take continuing responsibility for the care of patients in charge and under responsible Consultant Ophthalmologists within the Medical Retina service.
* Manage ophthalmology out‑patients and engage in all aspects of ophthalmology patient pathways, including programmed Eye Casualty sessions.
* Collaborate with Medical Retina consultants to identify and implement innovative ways to improve service delivery.
* Act as a role model and work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating strong communication and influencing skills.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
* MBBS / MRCS / FRCS or equivalent medical qualification.
* In‑depth knowledge and experience in managing Medical Retina and Emergency patients.
* Good leadership and organisational, communication, professional and personal skills.
* Experience in audit and management of clinical services.
* Commitment to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff.
Desirable Qualifications
* Higher Degree (MD/PhD) in a relevant field.
