You would be responsible for the leadership and effective and efficient management of the service.
You would be someone who has worked in Wheelchair services before at a senior level for several years and understands the complexities of prescribing wheelchairs for very complex needs understanding postural requirements.
You may have been involved with personal wheelchair budgets, custom seating, pressure mapping, contact with commissioners and should have experience of managing staff, performance management, sickness management and implementing change.
Main duties of the job
1. Responsible for the day-to-day operational management of the wheelchair service. This will include overarching responsibility for the consolidation and future development of the service, ensuring clarity of purpose and a high profile amongst all stakeholders.
2. Ensure the the service is delivered across Buckinghamshire in accordance with Service level Agreements and according to professional standards.
3. Take an expert team leader role in planning, coordinating, maximising capacity delivering and evaluating the service provided for Buckinghamshire patients/clients.
4. Have good working relationships with colleagues and referrers within Buckinghamshire NHS Trust, Primary Care Practitioners; Independent Sector; Statutory Agencies and other stakeholders.
5. Developing, in collaboration with other members of the team, policies, procedures, clinical and operational standards of practice and care that are appropriate to wheelchair services.
6. Carry a clinical caseload as required.
7. Make recommendations to inform the future strategic direction of the development of the wheelchair service informing future commissioning priorities.
8. Evaluate the service through regular audit and facilitating research and evidence-based practice.
9. Manage and develop qualified and unqualified staff technicians and administrative staff.
10. Provide necessary activity and quality data
11. Negotiate with clients regarding provision when unusual and specific circumstances are outside any national or local guidelines.
