Lead Data Engineer

We at WYP are looking for a Lead Data Engineer to join our Digital Policing Directorate based in Wakefield.
This is a rare opportunity to lead a team at the centre of our data journey, ensuring police data is used to effectively reduce criminality, protect the public and provide best value.
West Yorkshire Police are the fourth largest of the 43 Home Office forces and we serve 2.2 million people living in West Yorkshire. We also lead the North East region in relation to Serious and Organised crime, Counter Terrorism and Scientific Support, along with the National Police Air Service.
What you’ll be doing…
Leading a small team, together you will be…
•Developing and implementing data strategy and frameworks, to maximise data value in supporting Business Intelligence and Analytics.
•Designing, implementing and maintaining the WYP data infrastructure and environment, including data warehousing and within MS azure
• Delivering data services to the force including data architecture, management, engineering and database administration
• Provide expert guidance on database creation, monitoring and maintenance, and to data related programmes and projects
What we are looking for…
• Ability to lead and inspire a team, embracing new technologies and working in a busy and challenging environment.
• Ability to manage relational databases on a large-scale computer infrastructure
• Experience of database creation, performance tuning and migration between differing database versions
• Experience of data warehouse creation to support business analytics
Furthermore, you will already have a Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject or relevant experience in a data environment.
