Overview
SEDR Recruitment is working in partnership with a leading civil engineering and earthworks contractor delivering a major earthmoving package at Bristol, one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects.
We are seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join the site delivery team, playing a key role in supporting safe operations and reinforcing a positive, proactive safety culture across a high-profile construction environment. This is a hands-on, site-based role suited to someone who enjoys working closely with operational teams and influencing safety performance on the ground.

Key Responsibilities
Provide proactive, site-based HSE advice and support to the project delivery team and supply chain
Carry out regular site inspections, audits, and safety tours to promote best practice
Lead and support investigations into incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions
Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks, and ongoing HSE training
Maintain and review project-specific HSE documentation, including RAMS and HSE plans
Build strong working relationships with the workforce and encourage positive safety behaviours
Liaise with the client’s SHE team and contribute to review meetings
Monitor HSE performance and produce accurate monthly HSE reports
Ensure compliance with current health, safety, and environmental legislation
Requirements
Essential
Proven experience in a Health & Safety or SHEQ role within construction, civil engineering, or earthworks
NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
Solid understanding of CDM Regulations and site-based compliance
Strong communication skills with the ability to engage operatives and management
Practical, visible, and solutions-focused approach to safety
Desirable
Knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001 management systems
Experience carrying out audits and inspections
Incident and near-miss investigation experience
