This school is focused on developing students’ scientific understanding, inquiry skills, and enthusiasm for Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. As a Science Teacher, your role will extend beyond planning and marking — you will be instrumental in nurturing future innovators and critical thinkers. Key responsibilities include:
Key Responsibilities:
* Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver an engaging and comprehensive Science curriculum across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 if applicable), covering key concepts in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
* Practical Learning: Incorporate hands-on experiments and demonstrations to enhance scientific enquiry skills and deepen students’ understanding of theoretical content.
* Assessment & Progress Tracking: Monitor student learning using a range of assessments such as practical investigations, classwork, examinations, and projects, providing effective feedback to support progress.
* Scientific Literacy & Curiosity: Encourage students to ask questions, think critically, and develop logical reasoning while applying science to real-world contexts.
* Classroom Management: Create a positive and well-organised classroom and laboratory environment that maintains safety standards, promotes collaboration, and supports high expectations of behaviour.
* Professional Development: Participate in CPD activities and stay up to date with advancements in STEM education to continuously enhance teaching practice.
The successful Science Teacher will have:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or equivalent – PGCE/BSc, etc. with QTS in Science discipline).
* Experience teaching Science at secondary level.
* Strong subject knowledge in at least two science disciplines (or specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics).
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and challenge learners.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a supportive Science department.
* DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply).
