Database Administrator (DBA)

Leidos is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) to support and maintain an IT service management tool (ServiceNow) for a large organization. This role requires hands-on experience with database administration, optimization, and disaster recovery planning. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring database stability, security, and performance, collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance data integrity and system efficiency. This role requires a daily in-office presence.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Database Administration & Maintenance: Support MariaDB (MySQL) databases, ensuring performance and availability.
2. Backup & Disaster Recovery: Implement and manage database backups for data recovery.
3. Monitoring & Performance Optimization: Track and enhance system performance.
4. Incident & Problem Management: Troubleshoot and resolve database issues.
5. Capacity Planning: Monitor and forecast storage and performance needs.
6. Upgrades & Patch Management: Plan and execute database upgrades and patches.
7. Database Logging & Monitoring: Manage logs for security and compliance.
8. High Availability & Failover Management: Maintain uptime through failover procedures.
9. Automation & Scripting: Develop scripts for maintenance and monitoring tasks.
10. Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Keep documentation current and accessible.
11. Testing & Validation Support: Assist with database testing and validation.

You will have:

* Proven DBA experience
* Expertise in MariaDB or similar relational databases
* Experience with backup and disaster recovery
* Knowledge of tuning, indexing, and query optimization
* Understanding of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing)
* Familiarity with ITSM tools, preferably ServiceNow
* Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies
* Knowledge of ITIL/ITSM principles
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Desirable Skills:

* Knowledge of security frameworks (CIS, ISO 27001)
* Experience with high availability clustering and replication
* Familiarity with virtualization technologies
* Experience with automated patch management
* ServiceNow environment experience
* Experience transitioning systems to service
