TBC Conversions are seeking a Buyer to join our team based in Dungannon.
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, in this role you will be responsible for managing the procurement of components, materials, and services required for vehicle conversion projects. This includes mechanical, electrical, fabricated, and specialist automotive components. The role focuses on ensuring material availability, competitive pricing, and supplier performance to support production schedules and project delivery. The successful candidate will work closely with engineering, production, and finance to maintain cost control and supply continuity.
About The Role
Key Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supplier Coordination
Place and manage purchase orders in line with MRP and production requirements.
Ensure timely supply of components including vehicle parts, fabricated items, electrical systems, interiors, and specialist conversion materials.
Maintain strong day-to-day relationships with suppliers.
Resolve delivery, quality, or invoice discrepancies.
Cost Control & Negotiation
Negotiate pricing, lead times, and commercial terms with suppliers.
Support cost reduction initiatives and value engineering projects.
Monitor price movements and identify savings opportunities.
Assist with annual supplier pricing reviews.
Supplier Performance Management
Track supplier delivery performance and quality metrics.
Support supplier reviews and corrective action processes.
Source alternative suppliers where risk or cost issues arise.
New Product & Project Support
Support Engineering with sourcing for new vehicle builds and product updates.
Obtain quotes for new components and manage lead times.
Assist with BOM validation and cost roll-ups.
Inventory & ERP Management
Maintain accurate supplier data and pricing in ERP/MRP systems.
Support stock level optimisation and reduce excess or obsolete inventory.
Work with planning to manage long-lead or specialist items.
Experience
Experience & Skills
3–6 years' experience in a Buyer role.
Experience within automotive, vehicle conversion, manufacturing, or engineering preferred.
Exposure to low-volume, high-variation production environments advantageous.
Skills & Competencies
Commercial mindset with strong negotiation skills.
Excellent communication skills with colleagues, suppliers and customers.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Robust decision making with competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
Adaptable supplier relations
Strong attention to detail, with critical thinking & problem-solving skills.
Can demonstrate resilience and consistency
Good understanding of automotive or engineering components.
Ability to read technical drawings/specifications (desirable).
ERP/MRP system experience.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications
Degree or equivalent experience in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
CIPS qualification (or working towards) desirable but not essential.

3–6 years' experience in a Buyer role.
