About the role

The purpose of the Pastoral Support Worker is to work alongside teaching staff, parents/carers, and pupils; providing 1:1 mentoring and/or tutoring to specific pupils. The work aims to ensure that every pupil achieves their potential through targeted support and intervention, working with the school’s Senior Leadership Team.
Under the direction of the Senior Leadership Team, the Pastoral Support Worker will contribute to pupils’ well-being and achievement. Responsibilities include engaging with parents/carers, facilitating intervention groups, supporting learning, and managing pupils’ behavioral and attendance issues. This involves writing Support Plans and intervening with pastoral challenges within the school.
General Responsibilities as Pastoral Support
* Safeguard and promote the welfare of pupils and young people
* Liaise with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure pupils in need of support receive appropriate help
* Support pupils during learning sessions, break times, and lunchtimes, including managing behavior and organizing activities and rewards
* Participate in meetings related to pupil welfare, such as review meetings with parents/carers and external agencies
* Manage rewards and sanctions, implementing suitable and consistent interventions as needed
