Looking for a new challenge?
We are seeking an energetic, dynamic and strategic Head of Audience Engagement to lead our efforts in building, nurturing, and expanding our audience across digital, broadcast, and social platforms. The successful candidate will bring extensive newsroom, production, and editorial experience, paired with a proven ability to connect with diverse audiences through compelling storytelling, innovative engagement strategies, and data-driven insights.
Key Responsibilities
* Audience Strategy & Growth
* Develop and execute a comprehensive audience engagement strategy across digital, broadcast, and social channels.
* Identify growth opportunities through emerging platforms, trends, and audience behaviours.
* Content Leadership
* Lead the creation and distribution of engaging, audience-first content tailored to multiple platforms.
* Ensure editorial quality and consistency across all outputs, working closely with producers, editors, and digital teams.
* Community Engagement
* Build meaningful connections with audiences, fostering trust, loyalty, and active participation.
* Design and oversee campaigns that strengthen audience relationships and encourage two-way communication.
* Data-Driven Decision Making
* Analyse audience metrics and insights to refine strategies and measure impact.
* Translate analytics into actionable recommendations for editorial and engagement teams.
* Team Leadership & Collaboration
* Manage and mentor engagement and production teams, fostering creativity, collaboration, and innovation.
* Partner with cross-functional departments (editorial, marketing, product, and communications) to align audience strategies with organisational goals.
About You
* Proven Editorial & Production Expertise – E.g Skilled in producing for television, radio, and digital platforms.
* Audience-Centric Mindset – Deep understanding of how to build and sustain audiences in a fast-changing media landscape.
* Leadership Experience – Demonstrated ability to lead teams in high-pressure newsroom and production environments, managing editorial priorities while driving engagement.
* Digital & Social Fluency – Experienced in leveraging social media, live broadcasting, and digital platforms to grow reach and impact.
* Creative Storytelling Skills – Strong background in journalism, editing, and copywriting, with the ability to shape narratives that resonate across diverse audiences.
* Analytical & Strategic Thinking – Skilled at using audience insights and performance data to inform decision-making and optimize content strategies.
Preferred Qualifications
* Degree in English, Drama, Journalism, or related field (Royal Holloway, University of London).
* Journalism training (London School of Journalism).
* Track record of success in national and international media organisations.
