A world‑class engineering organisation is seeking a strategic and commercially driven Senior Buyer to lead indirect procurement across its UK and global operations. This key strategic role has been created to strengthen the company’s indirect supply chain performance — delivering long‑term value, compliance, and innovation across critical categories that support complex programmes.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver robust sourcing strategies for indirect spend categories, including IT, professional services, facilities, logistics, capital equipment, and engineering services.
* Manage strategic supplier relationships with a focus on performance, cost optimisation, quality, and regulatory compliance within the Defence sector.
* Lead contract negotiations and ensure adherence to Defence procurement standards, export control, and security requirements.
* Monitor market intelligence and geopolitical factors affecting supply risk and cost structures.
* Partner with engineering, programme management, commercial, and operations teams to align procurement strategy with programme and customer needs.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring value delivery, supply chain resilience, and sustainability across the indirect procurement portfolio.
About You
* Proven experience in strategic procurement or sourcing, ideally within the Engineering, Aerospace, or high‑technology engineering sectors.
* Strong background in indirect procurement, with exposure to multiple spend categories and complex, regulated environments.
* Excellent commercial and contractual acumen, with an understanding of procurement frameworks.
* Confident stakeholder manager, skilled at influencing across matrixed, global organisations.
* A strategic thinker who uses data, analytics, and insight to drive decision‑making and deliver measurable value.
