Qualified Residential Support Worker Location: Green Lane, LeighSalary: £27,999.72–£29,428.49 per annum (DOE) ¦ 40 hr/week ¦ Permanent About Green LaneWe are excited to offer an opportunity for an experienced Residential Support Worker to join a brand-new staff team at a 2-bed residential children’s home in Leigh. The home specialises in supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD) and Learning Difficulties (LD). Led by a highly experienced Registered Manager, this is a unique chance to play a key role in shaping a new service from the ground up. As Deputy Registered Manager, you will support the day-to-day running of the home, provide guidance and supervision to the team, and help create a safe, nurturing and consistent environment where children feel secure and valued. We are looking for a confident, compassionate professional with experience in residential childcare who can lead by example, promote positive outcomes for children, and maintain high standards of care, safeguarding and practice in line with regulatory requirements. Green Lane is nestled within a quiet residential area that offers a harmonious blend of community integration and privacy, this role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable young people—helping them to build independence, stability, and confidence for the future. Role Requirements: • NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare / Working with Young People (or equivalent qualification).• Understanding of young people’s developmental needs, including physical, emotional, social, intellectual and educational development.• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures and awareness of available social care services.• Experience working with young people in a residential or care setting.• Ability to build positive, trusting and professional relationships with young people. As a Residential Support Worker, you will: • Support the day-to-day running of the home, contributing to a safe, structured and nurturing environment for young people.• Build routines, structure and positive boundaries to support young people’s emotional well-being and preparation for adulthood.• Develop positive and trusting relationships with young people, promoting their independence, self-esteem and resilience.• Respond appropriately to challenging behaviour, using de-escalation strategies and a calm, compassionate approach.• Promote safeguarding by adhering to all child protection policies, procedures and reporting requirements.• Work collaboratively with families, social workers, education, health professionals and other agencies.• Maintain accurate records and contribute to care documentation in line with organisational and regulatory standards.• Ensure the safety and welfare of young people remains paramount at all times, including using physical intervention only as a last resort where there is significant risk of harm.
