Finance Manager

About the role
As part of our succession planning, this position offers extensive opportunities for career advancement, you will help to shape the future of our finance department and management team. The position invites you to play a crucial role in enhancing and implementing financial processes and procedures, effectively translating these initiatives into practical outcomes.
The role will be primarily office based and our operating hours are Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5pm. There may be an opportunity for hybrid working after the initial induction and training period has been completed.
Duties:
· Supervise and lead a team of finance assistants in executing daily, weekly and monthly financial operations.
· Support the finance team with daily banking, sales ledger, purchase ledger, and credit control.
· Manage team performance, absence, recognition and wellbeing.
· Deputise for the Head of Finance.
· Prepare management accounts, statistical analysis, and reporting.
· Reconcile control accounts, and process monthly journals (including accruals and prepayments).
· Prepare VAT and submit HMRC reports.
· Generate financial reports for budget monitoring.
· Conduct weekly and monthly bank reconciliations.
· Assist in audit preparation and execution.
· Manage the fixed asset register.
· Develop and maintain finance department procedures.
Skills, knowledge and experience:
· Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
· Professional accounting qualification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) or equivalent experience.
· Proven experience in financial accounting and reporting.
· Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.
· Experience managing and developing a team.
· Experience working with auditors.
· Honest, discreet, and committed to confidentiality.
· Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics Business Central, or equivalent).
· Good knowledge of MS Office/O365.
· Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
· Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.

· A competitive salary from £50,000-£55,000. (dependent on experience)
