About the role
Our Group Procurement team are recruiting for a Head of Sourcing to lead our team of 20 Strategic Sourcing professionals, setting the sourcing agenda for over £400m of spend with third parties. This will involve working across all directorates, influencing at Exec level and overseeing third party integration workstreams with strategic vendors for both the Co op Bank and Coventry Building Society.
Reporting into the Head of Procurement and Supplier Management, this is an influential position where the role holder will direct Sourcing activity for all third party spend (c. £400m, working closely with Executives and Senior Leaders to align strategy and guiding the team of Senior Procurement Managers to develop and deliver effective sourcing strategies to deliver key outcomes for customers and colleagues. The role holder will oversee sourcing and negotiation activity to create and drive supplier partner strategies which will involve extensive engagement with Executives and their leadership teams to identify requirements and priorities. A good understanding of current and evolving trends within Procurement and knowledge of the regulatory arrangements which apply to this area are essential.
Seen as trusted advisor to the Executive, this role provides advice on sourcing matters to senior leadership within the Group, as well as undertaking complex contractual negotiations to optimising efficiency and create value for our members and colleagues. This person will create Procurement Strategy to deliver integration outcomes and execute such strategy, to ensure delivery of demand management, sourcing execution, contract negotiation, delivery planning and ongoing supplier performance.

The role will operate as a dual location role, working from both Manchester and our Head Office campus in Binley, Coventry. A team-led hybrid working arrangement is in place.

About you
You'll be passionate about the profession and have the leadership gravitas to create buy in and momentum for the procurement agenda across the organisation, due to your experience in achieving major cost and value benefits in procurement, supplier management or contract management. You will be used to producing board level reporting and papers that demonstrate supplier delivery in commercial, risk, sustainability, innovation, and value-added areas. To be successful in this role it’s essential you have:
9. Significant procurement leadership experience and stakeholder influencing in a regulated environment
10. Experience of high value, commercial negotiations of significant technology outsource deals (£10m +) in an M & A environment or significant business change programme.
11. Significant direct and indirect sourcing experience
12. Experience of designing and implementing procurement strategy for Technology and non-Technology projects in one or more of the following key categories – Software, Telco, Infrastructure. Print and mail, BPO
13. Proven track record of delivering complex procurements which result in improved service and cost efficiency
14. Ability to review and finalise complex contractual terms and pricing models for SoWs, Master Service agreement and licensing with legal support.
15. Ability to manage significant supplier relationships with knowledge of leading Technology vendors in Financial Services
16. Deep understanding of the end to end procurement process and negotiation levers
17. Experience of nurturing effective relationships with Senior business leaders up to Exec and Board.
18. Knowledge of current trends within Procurement and the Financial Services sector – core banking, software and cloud experience advantageous
