As we continue to expand our international supply chain and UK manufacturing operations, we are looking for a highly organised Shipping Administrator to coordinate global shipments and ensure smooth, compliant movement of goods into and out of the UK.
The role:
You will be responsible for the import and export process for our goods, working closely with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, port health authorities, and internal production teams. This is a hands on logistics role where accuracy, communication and proactive problem solving are essential.
Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate international imports from origin countries, ensuring accurate documentation and timely shipment updates.
- Liaise daily with freight forwarders, shipping lines, customs agents, and hauliers to maintain clear visibility of all shipments.
- Verify import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, phytosanitary certificates, and certificates of origin.
- Track shipments from loading to delivery, updating ETAs and resolving delays or documentation issues.
- Arrange UK inland transport and ensure goods are delivered safely to our processing facilities.
- Support export shipments to EU and global customers, preparing export paperwork and coordinating with freight partners.
- Maintain accurate shipping records, landed‑cost data, and traceability information for food‑safety compliance.
- Supporting the Sales logistics Co-Ordinator in daily stock processing/sales orders.
- Dealing directly with hauliers arranging customer deliveries/collections.
Skills and experience
- Experience in international shipping, import/export administration, or logistics within food, FMCG, or manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of sea freight, customs procedures, Incoterms, and food‑import controls.
- Confident communicator with the ability to manage multiple agents and suppliers across time zones.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Competent with Microsoft Office and ERP/logistics systems.
