Overview
MoneyGram Haas F1 Team celebrates its tenth FIA Formula 1 World Championship season. We are a racing team with three HQs (Kannapolis, Banbury, Maranello) and a collaborative, family-style culture. The team aims to help each employee learn and contribute to the organization’s growth.
This position reports to the Head of Performance Systems and is part of the Vehicle Science Group; located in Banbury, UK. Responsibilities include leading the design, development and application of advanced data analysis and simulation tools with a strong focus on tyres. The role may involve providing support from the factory during race weekends and attending a limited number of races and test sessions at the track.
General Responsibilities
* Manage group personnel from recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement through to separation.
* Promote teamwork and effective communications to develop working relationships between all personnel and departments.
* Identify tyre performance strengths and weaknesses and opportunities for improvement to guide car design and trackside operations.
* Manage large projects through all stages: objectives, test plans, data post-processing, analysis and reporting.
* Supervise and develop the capabilities of tyre science engineers with performance reviews and development plans.
* Follow all safety regulations in all venues.
* Adhere to engineering and wider business processes.
* Assume responsibilities delegated by the Head of Performance Systems.
* Establish standard operating procedures and budgets to maintain a practical yet functional department.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead to improve the wider team’s understanding of tyre operation and behavior to guide performance improvements.
* Oversee development of tyre physics models and data analysis (including simulation and optimization) to direct car performance improvements within regulations.
* Maintain and enhance correlation of physical and empirical tyre models; conduct research to improve modelling techniques.
* Propose and coordinate experimental tyre testing (in-house, off-site, track).
* Collaborate with Electronics and Control Systems on sensors related to tyres.
* Collaborate with R&D on in-house and off-site tyre testing facilities.
* Supervise and contribute to tyre catalogues.
* Contribute to pre/post-event simulations, analysis and reporting focused on tyre performance and guidance to race engineers.
* Support race and test events during the weekend by following sessions from the factory or track.
Education and Work Experience
* Minimum MSc or PhD in Engineering or related STEM field with substantial tyre science experience (engineering, modelling, testing and data analysis).
* At least 5 years’ experience in motor racing or a related tyre modelling/simulation function.
* Prior experience in high-level motor racing (Formula One, Formula E or WEC) is desirable.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Solid technical background in engineering, applied mathematics and physics.
* Ability to work to a high standard under stress and time pressure, prioritizing workload efficiently.

Equipment and Applications
* Solid knowledge of MATLAB and Simulink.
* Proficient with object-oriented coding (C# or C++ preferred).
* Proficient with Microsoft Office products.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
Ability to work in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment with occasional domestic or international travel. Willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends. Role may require lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Work involves machinery, race cars, 7-post rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids. Compliance with the Company Health and Safety Policy and applicable laws is required.
