Job overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 1 Junior Clinical Fellow (FY2-CT1) to work as part of the General Surgical team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust, based at the Royal Blackburn Hospital site.
The post holder will assist in providing a clinical service in elective and emergency General Surgery to the population of East Lancashire and the adjoining areas.
The post holder will be expected to provide a patient centred service, respecting the privacy, dignity and choice of individual patients.
Main duties of the job
These posts are ideal for candidates who have completed Foundation training or equivalent and are seeking further surgical training, working closely with the STs/Senior Clinical Fellows and under the supervision of the Consultants.
The roles include out of hours work on the on call rota which is a full shift system. It covers General Surgery emergencies but there is also some cross-cover with Vascular, Urology and ENT at Junior Clinical Fellow level as part of the Surgical Out of Hours Service (SOS).
The roles are primarily ward based however include the opportunity to assist in theatres along with general and specialist out-patient clinics.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. Deliver high quality care with the help of the existing surgical team.
2. Share in administrative duties allocated by mutual agreement within the Directorate.
3. Participate in the weekly on-call system of care under the EWTD guidelines.
4. Observe and comply with clinical and non-clinical policies and procedures (including local and national employment and personnel policies) agreed with employees and management.
5. Closely involved in clinical audit and other clinical governance issues.
6. Undertake research in the department.
7. Provide support for junior colleagues in the department including FY1s and Medical Students

* Full registration with the GMC and a licence to practise
