One of Loriens Edinburgh-based Public Sector clients is looking for a highly experienced People Partner to join their team for a 9-month contract, based in Edinburgh offices 60% of the time.
Purpose of Post
Act as a single point of contact for leaders and managers in aligned directorates, providing proactive, strategic, and high-quality people advice and solutions that support the long-term strategic aims of the organization. Lead activity on up to two of the specialist people knowledge areas: Volunteering, Employee Relations, People Systems and Analytics, Reward, and Performance Management.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop a thorough understanding of the strategic and operational aims of aligned directorates to quickly develop and present appropriate people programs, solutions, and advice to Directors, Leaders, and Managers on all people matters.
2. Engage with other People Team specialists (Training and Development Manager, Resourcing Partner, Organisational Development Manager, and Health and Safety Manager) to develop and implement specific people activities and interventions.
3. Lead on up to two specialist people knowledge areas to develop, drive, and deliver people programs and processes that achieve meaningful results and align with organizational objectives, including managing relevant external third-party suppliers to ensure performance standards and value for money.
4. Manage and resolve complex casework, assess risks, devise case management strategies, coach Directors, Leaders, and Managers, and seek advice from external employment law specialists as appropriate.
5. Support organizational change projects by coaching leaders in developing business cases and supporting implementation, including liaising with trade union representatives, advising on consultation processes, internal communications, redeployment, and exits.
6. Utilize people trends and metrics to inform decision-making and develop practical people policies and processes that meet strategic and operational needs, employment legislation, and are sector-leading.
7. Share knowledge and information proactively with the multi-disciplinary People Team, especially regarding developments, lessons learned, technical expertise, and best practices.
8. Support line management for up to two members of the People Team, including setting objectives, supporting professional development, managing performance, and acting as an escalation point.
9. Assist with role design and evaluation.
10. Support the wider People Team with additional projects and activities as needed.
11. Commit to good health & safety and access practices, ensuring familiarity with relevant policies, procedures, and guidelines.
