Key Information
* Hybrid working available – work from home subject to managerial approval or at one of our offices.

What will I be doing?
We’re working to improve the lives of people in Somerset – and you’ll be a key part of that. As a Health and Safety Officer and CDM Adviser you will serve as the lead adviser on health and safety matters to the Service Director and Senior Managers within the Infrastructure and Transport Directorate. This role involves managing health and safety initiatives, promoting best practice and influencing others to adopt a strong health and safety culture.
Your day‑to‑day work will involve:
* Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, organisational policy and professional codes of conduct.
* Championing health, safety and wellbeing within the directorate to promote a positive culture.
* Conducting health and safety audits to monitor compliance and identify areas for improvement.
* Supporting activity associated with Employers Liability and Public Liability claims.
* Managing approved budgets for health and safety improvements.

Experience and qualifications
* Level 2 qualification or equivalent to 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade 9‑4 (A‑C).
* Level 3 qualification or equivalent to 3 A Levels.
* Level 5 qualification or equivalent professional accreditation.
* Proficiency in using health and safety management software and tools.
* Previous experience in a health and safety advisory role within a complex organisation and managing health and safety audits and inspections.
* Thorough understanding of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and in-depth knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.

Compensation
Salary Grade 11: £32,597 – £36,363 per annum.
