An exciting opportunity has arisen within the outpatient department we are looking for a motivated and dynamic team player to take up the role of Deputy Sister.
This role is in our Main Outpatients department at Bournemouth. Outpatients is a busy department seeing patients of all ages and look after many different specialities.
Outpatients is a large part of the patient pathway into the hospital, whether it is their first appointment or a follow up appointment. Our nursing is there to support them throughout.
If you have excellent communication skills and really care about supporting patients within a clinic setting we have a brilliant opportunity within our friendly outpatients team.

Main duties of the job
1. To assist the Outpatient department Sister and Matron in providing an efficient, cost effective and quality service, ensure best practice in accordance with trust policies and procedures.
2. To take responsibility of the Outpatient department in the absence of the Sister or as and when required.
3. Working within different speciality clinics and supporting junior staff and students in clinic.
4. To assist in the management and organisation of the Outpatient departments.
5. To assist in the future development of the outpatient department Lead and Co-ordinate a team to ensure the delivery of effective nursing care to patients and their families reflecting the UHD Values and the Poole Approach.
6. Participate in the supervision, assessment and development of staff and students through performance review, clinical supervision and teaching in a variety of settings and act as a resource for education and development within the service
7. To act as an effective role model promoting excellence through practice.
8. Use specialist knowledge and skills to provide healthcare to patients attending the Outpatient department and lead on the development of new and current Outpatient Nurse led services and clinics

20. In an emergency situation the nurse will be required to respond speedily and swiftly for the patient well-being. Supporting junior staff during and after any emergency situation.
21. To ensure the safe custody and administration of medicines in accordance with established Trust procedure and policy.

Qualifications
Essential
23. 1st level registration currently registered with NMC
24. Basic management course/ B-tec or equivalent
25. Learning, Teaching and Assessing in Clinical Practice (Mentorship) or equivalent
Experience

26. Minimum of 2 years' experience in Outpatients department at previous grade or acute area.
27. Minimum of 3 years post registration experience
28. Experience of leading, motivating and supporting a team
29. Experience of delegating workload and monitoring progress
30. Able to demonstrate managing and leading a change
31. Experience of monitoring clinical practice
