Job Description:

We are working with a leading provider of specialist healthcare services to recruit a Head of Facilities and Biomedical Technicians — a key strategic and operational leadership role responsible for delivering safe, compliant, and effective estates, facilities, and renal technical services across a national network of patient treatment centres.

This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior post with broad scope, combining hard and soft facilities management with technical leadership of biomedical engineering teams, supporting vital services that make a real difference to thousands of patients.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership

* Develop and deliver estates and technical services strategies aligned to organisational goals.
* Act as an Authorised/Responsible Person for critical areas (e.g., water safety, medical gases, fire, dialysis water systems).
* Lead compliance with HTMs, HBNs, NHS Premises Assurance Model, and other regulations.
* Oversee the Business Continuity Plan and lead on estate-related risk management.

Facilities Management

* Lead the delivery of all hard and soft FM services (building maintenance, cleaning, waste, utilities, security, etc.).
* Ensure strong planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and responsive repair regimes.
* Drive environmental sustainability and energy efficiency initiatives.

Biomedical Technical Services

* Manage a national team of Biomedical Technicians servicing specialist renal equipment, dialysis machines, and water treatment systems.
* Ensure equipment meets MHRA standards and clinical service requirements.
* Collaborate with clinical teams to align technical support with patient care needs.

Finance and Risk

* Manage departmental budgets, capital planning, and procurement processes.
* Ensure value for money and contract efficiency.
* Maintain a robust risk register and lead incident investigations where necessary.
* Lead, support, and develop high-performing facilities and biomedical teams.
* Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and professional growth.

Stakeholder Engagement

* Act as a key contact for external inspections (e.g., CQC, HSE) and internal audits.
* Contribute to capital developments and transformation programmes.

What Our Client is Looking For:

* Degree in Engineering, Estates/Facilities Management, or a related field.
* Extensive experience in healthcare estates/facilities leadership.
* Proven experience with renal technical systems and biomedical teams.
* Deep understanding of HTMs, HBNs, and NHS estate compliance standards.
* Budget management and capital project delivery experience.
* NEBOSH General Certificate and IOSH membership.
* Postgraduate qualification in management or leadership.
* AP/RP status in key areas (e.g., water, ventilation, dialysis).
* Membership of relevant professional bodies (IHEEM, IET, etc.).
* Track record of driving cultural and operational change.

Why Apply?

This is a career-defining leadership role at the heart of a purpose-driven organisation. You'll play a pivotal part in ensuring safe, high-quality environments for patients and staff, while leading the evolution of technical and estates services in a complex healthcare setting.

You’ll be part of a highly supportive leadership team that values professional development, autonomy, and innovation — and be given the opportunity to shape the future of healthcare infrastructure and renal support services nationwide.

If you're ready to step into a role where your financial expertise, leadership and commercial acumen will be truly valued, we’d love to hear from you.
