Offer description

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is one of the UK’s fastest growing nature conservation organisations and seeks to appoint a Project Assistant - Hull & East Riding.

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is the catchment host for the Hull & East Riding Catchment Partnership which forms a part of the Catchment Based Approach work in the county. The focus of much of the work is set in a farming context, with an extensive man‑made drainage system linked to a network of flowing watercourses, although there is an element of urban focus within the city of Hull.

More broadly the aim is to deliver our blueprint for nature’s recovery by looking at connections between farming, the region’s spring‑fed chalk streams, man‑made drainage systems and wildlife recovery, and by linking to other initiatives such as the Local Nature Recovery Strategy and the city of Hull’s Living with Water Programme. This role supports the partnership through volunteer and citizen science programmes, habitat management work, and thorough, accurate data management.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work outdoors and use a range of manual tools. They will manage risk and communicate it to a range of people, be comfortable with digital systems and maintain a good attitude to capturing and recording data. They will support volunteer and citizen science work programmes, habitat management, and data collection for the partnership.

Qualifications

A passion for nature conservation, especially wetland environments, a full UK driving licence, and willingness to regularly drive to sites and reserves are required. The candidate should be comfortable working outdoors, possess good risk management skills, confidence communicating risk, and be proficient with digital data recording tools.

EEO Statement

We are committed to creating a Movement that recognises and truly values individual differences and identities. We value diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive culture where everyone can be themselves and reach their full potential. We want our people to flourish, just like nature. Yorkshire Wildlife Trust is registered in England no. 409650 and is a registered charity no. 210807. Registered Office: 1 St George’s Place, York, YO24 1GN.
