Job Details Grade 9A Hours: 35 Hourly rate: £22.98 - £24.82 Salary: £41950.13 - £45308.13 per annum Contract: Permanent Interviews will be held 17 July 2025 Role Purpose An excellent opportunity has arisen to join our dedicated and well-regarded Internal Audit function, comprising 5.5 FTE whose way of working is hybrid (base at SBC HQ though predominant working from home). The Internal Audit function provides independent and objective audit assurance and ‘critical friend’ consulting services to Scottish Borders Council (SBC), the SBC Pension Fund, and the Scottish Borders Health and Social Care Integration Joint Board (IJB) to add value by enhancing governance, risk management and control processes in each organisation’s operations. This is of greater importance against a backdrop of challenging financial and people resources, increasing service demands and additional obligations on these organisations in the UK public sector. You will be a CCAB Qualified Accountant or CIIA Qualified Auditor (Certified Internal Auditor as a minimum). Applications will also be considered from candidates who have made substantial progress towards achieving the professional qualification. You will have experience in an accounting or auditing role in a large multi-functional organisation (preferably local government) to gain in-depth knowledge of internal control systems, procedures and practices across a broad range of services. You will have the ability to develop and maintain positive and effective working relationships with internal stakeholders at all levels and externally with colleagues in the public sector to support strong control environments for our organisations. All roles across the Council will actively seek and implement the latest digital solutions and technologies that can improve efficiency, productivity, and the quality of our services. Training will be provided. This will make an important contribution to the delivery of high-quality public services.
