The Team:
The role will sit within the Global Fixed Income Legal team. The team works closely with colleagues in Equities, Credit, and Commodities globally on BAU issues and large-scale global projects. The team has extensive experience and provides ongoing support and training. The role also offers opportunities to participate in industry projects and initiatives. Responsibilities:
1. The position provides legal representation and support for the EMEA Futures & OTC Clearing business, including:
2. Legal advice to the Futures and OTC clearing business, collateral management, and support partners on BAU issues and clearing projects.
3. Coordinate and support attorneys covering the Futures & OTC Clearing business in U.S. and APAC.
4. Regulatory advice relating to regulations impacting clearing activities such as EMIR 3.0 and CASS rules.
5. Legal advice regarding the Bank’s risk to CCPs, including clearing member liability, withdrawal rights, and CCP netting opinions.
6. Provide netting advice and legal support on accounting and capital issues related to clearing.
7. Advise the business and documentation group on negotiating customer agreements for Futures & OTC clearing and negotiate complex agreements directly with clients.
8. Coordinate with outside counsel on regulatory, enforcement, and corporate matters related to clearing.
Experience and Skills:
* Must be licensed to practice law in the appropriate jurisdiction(s).
* Strong experience advising on futures and OTC clearing issues, including client clearing documentation and key clearing house rules.
* Experience with uncleared interest rate swaps or FX is desirable.
* Excellent attention to detail and drafting accuracy.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills, adaptable to various audiences.
