Paralegal – Court of Protection (Nottingham)

MJC Law is a specialist Legal Aid firm working in Court of Protection (health and welfare), mental health and community care. We are looking for a Paralegal to join our Nottingham office and support more senior lawyers in delivering high-quality legal services to vulnerable clients.
The role
You will support more senior lawyers with the progression of casework, primarily in Court of Protection health and welfare matters. The role combines hands-on legal work, strong client care and Legal Aid compliance.
You will:
* Assist with progressing legal aid casework and client matters
* Attend clients, take instructions and assist with case preparation
* Draft legal documents and undertake legal research
* Manage Legal Aid Agency funding, billing and compliance
* Handle client calls, new enquiries and general case administration
* Maintain accurate file records, time recording and regulatory compliance
About you
Essential:
* Law degree, GDL, or working towards qualification via CILEx or SQE
* Excellent communication and client care skills
* Strong organisation, attention to detail and IT skills
* A genuine commitment to Legal Aid and access to justice
Desirable:
* Paralegal or legal work experience
* Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act or Care Act
* Experience working with vulnerable clients or using case management systems
